This post will mainly be beauty related whether it be skincare, makeup, or fragrance. These are my wants right now and at the end of August, I hope to do a wrap-up of everything from this list that I actually purchased and maybe even do a review of them to see if they are worth it. Enough of my rambling, let’s get into the August Beauty Wishlist. 

Skincare

La Roche Posay Lipkar Wash

I currently use the hydrating wash by the same brand and it is good, but I am looking to try something different. I also love any product approved by The Eczema Association so this product is calling my name. 

Belif True Cream Moisturizing Bomb

I have used this product before, but it was expensive so I didn’t want to repurchase at the time and wanted to find something cheaper. After trying something different I am thinking of repurchasing because I realized I do like it a lot and might be worth the price for my dry skin.

Good Molecules Yerba Mate Wake up Eye Gel

I have been looking for an eye cream even though I constantly hear they are unnecessary. I tried the Cerave Eye Repair Cream and my under eyes did not react well to it. I want to try this one because it is affordable and I can try to get back into eye creams.

Body Care

Naturium Glow Getter Multi-Oil Hydrating Body Wash

All I do is hear about this body wash on TikTok. It is definitely a want because I struggle with smooth, moisturized skin so this easily became a want for me.

Naturium The Smoother Glycolic Acid Exfoliating Body Wash

Obviously, I couldn’t get just one Naturium body wash. I have seen many people pair them together so I want to get this one. There is a Salycilic Acid one, but I am not the biggest fan of Salycilic Acid so I will try the Glycolic Acid and I feel this will be better for my dry skin.

Fur Silk Scrub

This product is definitely one of the unrealistic products on this wishlist but why not include it? It is overly expensive, but I hear good things about this brand and this scrub so I want to try it out. I am used to using cheaper body scrubs so I want to try a pricier one to see if there is any real difference.

Makeup

Sephora Collection Microsmooth Muti-Tasking Baked Face Powder Foundation

When it comes to looking for a face powder, I keep seeing some of my favorite beauty gurus use this powder and I have been influenced. I have been patiently waiting to buy this and it is a definitive must for the month of August as I want to be more consistent with my makeup routine.

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer

I am a skin tint/tinted moisturizer fanatic (even though I have only tried one). I have tried foundations in the past and they always feel so heavy and I also don’t like the way they look on my skin. I don’t necessarily know which Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer I want because there are so many, so I am definitely going to have to do a little bit more research to figure out which one is best for my skin. I have heard good things about it so I definitely want one.

E.l.f. Stay All Night Micro-Fine Setting mist

The current setting spray I am using is not doing great for me (you can find out which one is in my beginner makeup routine), so I am looking for something affordable but better. I have heard great things about this one and I feel e.l.f. Is really stepping up its game with products so this is a definitive purchase.

Fragrance

Sol de Janeiro Cheirosa ‘40 Body mist

I have been wanting to increase my fragrance collection but fragrances are expensive. I have heard this is the preferred scent from this brand so I definitely want to see what all the hype is about.

Valentino Donna Born In Roma Coral Fantasy

I smelled this perfume while in Ulta and couldn’t afford it at the time. This is definitely going to be a purchase for August. I might start with the travel size first because I tend to initially like scents then change my mind after a while.

Tom Ford Soleil Blanc

I have gotten a sample of this from Sephora when I purchased it a while back and I absolutely loved it. This perfume is expensive and might not be purchased in August, but I could surprise myself and commit to getting it.

Step 1 – Pre-Cleanse

Banila Co. Clean It Zero

I cannot do my skincare routine without double cleansing. I feel it really helps with my regular cleanser and makes my skin so much smoother. I use the Banila Co. Clean It Zero for double cleansing. I really like this cleansing balm. It doesn’t cause me any problems and my skin feels great after using. I will be looking into different types of pre-cleanse textures like oils or gel. I hear the Krave Beauty Makeup Rewind is really good and the SoftyMo cleansing oil is really good as well and also more affordable. 

Step 2 – Cleanser

La Roche Posay Hydrating Gentle Cleanser

I have really dry skin and also eczema (on my body) so I really wanted a hydrating cleanser so I wouldn’t feel so dry. Before I was using a salicylic acid cleanser and my skin would feel like the Saharan Desert after washing. I switched to this cleanser and have been loving it. Once I get through this I do want to try the La Roche Posay Lipkar Wash as I have heard people prefer that for dry skin.

Step 3 – Exfoliate (2-3x a week)

Good Molecules Overnight Exfoliating Treatment

I am not consistent with exfoliating as much as I should be, but when I do exfoliate I use the Good Molecules Overnight Exfoliating Treatment. I was debating between this and the Pineapple Exfoliating Powder by Good Molecules, but I went with the overnight instead. I still want to try the Pineapple Exfoliating Powder though. I also want to attempt the Paula’s Choice BHA Exfoliant because I had it before but didn’t really like it so maybe I will give it another go (the mini this time though because it is expensive).

Step 4 – Hyaluronic acid

Good Molecules Hyaluronic Acid Serum

Having dry skin, I am determined to use as many products that help with hydration as possible. I use the Good Molecules Hyaluronic Acid Serum and I am absolutely loving it. It is also really affordable (well the whole brand is) and that makes it even better. I use to use The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid Serum, but there was something about it I didn’t like, so I switched to Good Molecules.

Step 5 – Toner

First Aid Beauty Wild Oat Hydrating Toner

I have heard toner is not really necessary for skincare unless you have dry skin (don’t quote me), but I do use it. I use the First Aid Beauty Wild Oat Hydrating Toner. I don’t know if it is actually doing anything, but it does feel good. I plan to keep using it, but might also try some different toners to maybe find one with more benefits. It is an overall good toner that doesn’t make me feel dry.

Step 6 – Essence

Cosrx Snail Mucin Essence

I really wanted a product that would help with my skin barrier, so I went with the Cosrx Snail Mucin Essence. I actually really love it and would definitely repurchase this. They have many different snail mucin products, but I chose the essence. I was also influenced by TikTok to get it. This isn’t necessarily a cheap product and I am pretty sure I got it on sale. It is definitely an investment, but it makes my skin look and feel hydrated so I think it is worth it. 

Step 7 – Serum

Good Molecules Discoloration Correcting Serum

I suffer from discoloration on my face, especially from past breakouts. I decided to get the Good Molecules Discoloration Correcting Serum because I had been hearing so many good things about it. I will not lie currently I am not consistent with it. I will do an updated blog post to fully review the product, but it doesn’t seem like it is going to give me any problems so I will continue to use it. As of right now, I am not seeing results, but hopefully, with consistency, I will.

Step 8 – Moisturizer

Good Molecules Priming Moisturizer

I currently use the Good Molecules Priming Moisturizer. I do have dry skin so I feel this is a good moisturizer for the summer, but I don’t see myself using it in the winter as my skin is even more dry then. Good Molecules sells a different product now which is the Lightweight Daily Moisturizer. I might use that for next summer, but I think I will try something different for winter.

Step 9 – Lip Mask

Laneige Lip Mask

This product is definitely a splurge and not a necessity. I use the Laneige Lip Mask. I got it as a Sephora birthday gift years ago and it is lasting me a very long time. Mind you, I am not consistent with it. I personally love it, but it is not needed and I am debating buying the full size because it is expensive. Regular lip balm like Aquaphor will work just fine as that is what I use in the morning and is a lot more affordable than the lip mask.

This consists of my somewhat long nighttime skincare routine. I didn’t realize how many products I actually use until writing this blog post. Let me know in the comments what products you use if you have tried any of these or any alternatives you recommend.

If you want an easy 8-step natural beginner makeup routine for complete beginners, then this post will be perfect for you as this is what I use as a complete beginner with no experience. 

Yes, I am 22 years old and just now learning how to do makeup and I definitely have not been consistent because makeup products can be expensive.

It is also hard to find drugstore products that work for my skin color and skin type. Now keep in mind I said semi-affordable due to the fact that some makeup products I believe need to be splurged on and you will see which ones in this blog post, but that doesn’t mean you can’t find alternatives for cheaper.

This is just what I use as a beginner and hope you take some inspiration to start your own makeup journey.

For this beginner routine, it will be very simple with just the basic products that can tell you how to do a simple makeup routine in very little time.

Step 1 – Primer

e.l.f Mint Melt or Power Grip

I currently use the e.l.f Mint Melt primer as that is what I bought a while ago, but now they sell the Power Grip Primer. I have been hearing this is a dupe to the Milk Makeup Hydro Grip, so if you need an affordable primer, this is the one to go with.

Step 2 – Skin tint

Fenty Skin Tint

The Fenty Skin Tint is what I use as a beginner. This product is something you have to splurge on, but there are cheaper alternatives as well. I personally feel a skin tint is great to start with as a beginner because it is a struggle to find the perfect foundation shade.

Fenty has a wide shade range and the skin tints can easily be matched to a foundation shade. Now I will say that Fenty foundations and skin tints will oxidize (turn orange) so keep that in mind when picking a shade.

Step 3 – Concealer

e.l.f. Hydrating Camo Concealer

The e.l.f. Hydrating Camo Concealer is what I use as it is affordable and easily accessible. They have a good range and are great for a beginner if you’re new to concealer.

Usually, concealer is for highlighting purposes, so try to find a shade that is 1 or 2 shades lighter than your foundation/skin tint.

Step 4 – Setting powder

Anastasia Beverly Hills Translucent Setting Powder

This is another product you might have to splurge on and it is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Translucent Setting Powder. I got this as a birthday gift from Sephora a while ago and I am just now using it and so far I love it.

I definitely understand the hype around it. There are more affordable setting powders, but this is one I think is worth it.

Step 5 – Bronzer

e.l.f. Putty Bronzer

Warming up the face will be very important in a beginner’s makeup routine. It is also a step that is quite easy to master. I use the e.l.f. Putty Bronzer because I prefer more of a dewy look with my makeup. It is also really cheap and affordable for a bronzer.

Step 6 – Blush

e.l.f. Putty Blush

Blush is needed to add a little color to the face. I use the e.l.f. Putty Blush. The e.l.f. putty collections are mostly my favorite products from them. They are also very affordable and great for beginners. I definitely recommend them.

Step 7 – Lips

NYX Lip Products

I mainly use NYX lip products. I feel those are the most affordable and overall best lip products. I love their lip liners and butter glosses. I definitely feel like the butter glosses alone are perfect, but I love to pair them with NYX’s brown lip liner.

Step 8 – Setting Spray

NYX Dewy Finish Setting Spray

Currently, I am using the NYX Dewy Finish Setting Spray. It is an alright spray for someone looking for something affordable. I have heard good things about the e.l.f. Stay All Night Setting Spray and I plan to try that one. The NYX setting spray does transfer (for me, may not be for others) so keep that in mind if you choose to purchase.

Tools

I don’t use many tools when it comes to my makeup. I currently use a Beauty Blender and the Equate Beauty 7-piece brush set from Walmart.

There are makeup products and steps I did not mention including contour and all-over face powder. I currently don’t have products for these and I also feel contour is something I would need to master first before recommending it in a beginner makeup routine. I do plan to add the Sephora Collection Microsmooth Face powder to my routine as soon as possible because I’ve heard so many good things about it.
